A Bit About Me

IMG_7304.PNG

I became a full-time coach in 2012, after playing for Middlesex, MCC Young Cricketers and Hertfordshire, who I still play for. My coaching experience thus far has seen me work for Hertfordshire County cricket Club; working with the County Age Group players and the EPP squads, along with the Hertfordshire Girls/Women’s sides. Alongside this I was Head Coach at North Mymms Cricket Club (2015, 2016) and following I held the Director of Cricket at Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club where we were Hertfordshire Premier League champions for three consecutive years (2016/ 2017/ 2018). My role oversaw the entire cricketer activity from the U8’s through to the Senior sides. Jamie Southgate Coaching began in 2014 which has allowed me to continue my passion for the sport by sharing my expertise and coaching philosophy with the up and coming players of today. Getting the players excited about the game and concentrating on their individual player strength is key to making them the best players.

My cricket career has given me opportunities overseas, running a junior side in Melbourne for the 2011/12 winter season, and gaining coaching experience in India, Namibia, and Sweden. My role as a development officer for the ‘Participation Cricket’ programme with the Hertfordshire Cricket Board gained me more hands-on experience, where I worked on the charity programmes ‘Chance to Shine’ & ‘Lady Taverners’, while also gaining experience within disability cricket, running programmes in FE Colleges and Special Needs schools. This role also gave me the opportunity of running cricket through ‘Active Students’ at Hertfordshire University.

Currently, I'm Director of cricket at East Molesey Cricket Club where I'm in charge of all cricketer activity across the board .
